April 6th    “Tippy Canoe and Climate Change Too!”

Kenneth S. Schmitz, professor of physical chemistry, UMKC.

Climate records have shown that increases in CO2 and temperature have lead to mass extinctions.  Possible outcomes of current climate concerns will be discussed including extinction of the current top feeders.

April 13th    “Ancient Gnosticism at the Intersection of Modern Religion and Politics”

Paul Mirecki, Professor of Religious Studies, Lawrence, Kansas University.

Drawing from his background in ancient Mediterranean religions, languages, and archaeology, Greek and Coptic papyrology, Dr. Mirecki will illustrate religious, historical and anthropological roots of today’s religion and politics.


April 20th    “The Rise of the Dutch Republic”

Dr Fred Whithead, PH.D, Local Free Thought Historian.

Dr. Whitehead brings us an illustrated history of religious war in the Netherlands and Belgium.
