Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians from MAST Ambulance & Vicki Guhr, Registered Nurse, COR Board Member
Paramedics and EMTs from the Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust will conduct CPR training, assisted by Ms. Guhr, a practicing RN who worked for four years as an EMT with MAST Ambulance. Come dressed in comfortable clothes, and prepare for hands-on learning. You will leave knowing how to save someone’s life. And you receive the basic “Friends and Family” certification card from the American Heart Association.

Aug 12th    "Achieving Progressive Political Unity"

Dr. Kelly Patrick Gerling, consultant, speaker, coach and author
“Progressive” as a political identity is displacing “liberal.” Progressives however have been divided by the two-party system that, in turn, is dominated by rich, corporate, militarist groups that control their direction and agendas. “This is not democracy but corporocracy,” says Kelly Gerling. The task before progressives is to unite politically to amplify their power. Dr. Gerling founded the research and consulting group, The Leadership Project, Inc. His practice is called Values Based Counseling.

Aug 19th    "The Rigid Two-Party System Threatens Democracy"

Dee Berry, long time Green and co-chair of the Green Party of Missouri
We face vast social problems while burdened with a political system that cannot acknowledge them. “The Republican Party is mired in the dishonesty, corruption, and ineptitude of the Bush Administration. And the Democratic Party is bereft of either courage or creativity,” says Dee Berry. But grassroots progressive movements can be a catalyst to change the direction of the country, she says.

Aug 26th    "A View of Pakistan and the Arabic Diplomatic Corps"

Ruth Lee, an administrator at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS
Fritz Lee, professor of economics, UMKC
Ruth & Fritz Lee had the unique opportunity to travel to Pakistan for two weeks as the guest of the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Pakistan. They will share their random observations and unempirical insights about life in Pakistan and the (foreign) Arabic diplomatic community that works in the capital of the world’s second most populous Islamic nation.
