June 3^rd    "Watch Dogging the Media"

Vicki Walker, host, "KC Media Watchdogs", KKFI-FM
Former Missouri state Rep. Vicki Walker (D-50th) is a journalist who is involved in progressive politics. She hosts the morning show, "KC Media Watchdogs" every Monday on KKFI at 90.1 FM. She will cover the three stages of the media: watchdog, lapdog, and junkyard dog.

June 10^th    "Issues in Groundwater Contamination"

Dr. Jejung Lee, asst. professor, geosciences, UMKC
How does groundwater flow in subsurface areas? How does contamination occur? What can be done to correct it? Dr. Lee, whose background is in civil engineering, geophysics and geosciences, will guide us though the problems and possible solutions.

June 17^th    "Sunflower Brother: Sam Witt reads from his latest book of poems"

Sam Witt, visiting asst. professor, English language and literature, UMKC
Samuel B. Witt has won numerous honors for his poetry. His latest collection, "Sunflower Brother", won the Cleveland State University Poetry Center's Open Competition. A reviewer for the "Kansas City Star" described Witt's poetry as haunting and metaphoric. This will be a poetry reading and book signing by the author.

June 24^th    "Climate Change and What You Can Do About It"

Craig Lubow, attorney, the Sierra Club, Kansas Chapter
Craig's presentation will focus on the dynamics of global warming and the damaging climate change that results from it. How will this effect life? Craig will then discuss how we can take action, organize, and change our behavior to reduce or eliminate the dangers.
