May 18th    “Saving the World Means Saving Ourselves”

John Kurman, Community Activist and Writer

Most people assume that saving the world means “giving things up”, that we in the industrialized world will altruistically have to sacrifice a way of life that is making us happy to end the world‘s destruction. But, what if we learned that our way of life is not only wrecking the world but ruining our lives? Join us in exploring what hedonic psychology - the study of human happiness - and our own experiences tell us about this vital question.

11am - Haag Hall, Room 307 - Skeptical Bible Study   --   Historical Jesus - Sources & Problems

May 25th    “Presidential Power: Use, Abuse, and the Future”

Max Skidmore, Curators Professor of Political Science at UMKC
